1996 Lewisville Fightin' Farmers Went 15-0 & a State Title w/ the Most Feared Offense in Texas HD

20.11.2019
This week’s 25th Anniversary Flashback takes us back to 1996 when the Lewisville Fighting Farmers wishbone offense could not be stopped. The Farmers didn’t have a strong-armed quarterback, a big time running back or even a huge offensive line. But what they did have was one of the most feared offenses in Texas that year that would finish the season 15-0 and state champions. By the time Lewisville started the playoffs, their wishbone was working like a well oiled machine. The Farmers won 5 post season games by a combined score of 225-59 and this was against competition that had a combine record of 56-4. But what really made this team special was the state title game. Lewisville beat converse Judson 58-34 without attempting a single pass. Quarterback, Michael Odle ran for 140 yards while fullback, Luke Taylor, rushed for 154 yards and 5 touchdowns. Unthinkable in today’s spread offense era, but Lewisville racked up 541 yards rushing and 0 passing. We may never see that type stat line again, but it’s what made the farmers 1996 season so magical. ######### Subscribe to DFW Inside High School Sports to stay up to date on everything high school sports related in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex!
