'Chinta Roger' by Parvathy Baul HD
This song by Shorot goes to the heart of the human condition – of being in the grip of the disease called worry. ‘Worry in the morning, worry at night,’ he says, ‘and in the afternoon, worry.’ We can perhaps recognise this insidious sense of anxiety and unease that haunts us, whether in the foreground or background of our mental spaces. Perhaps it is the secret cause of our ceaseless activities. The only cure, the poet hints, may be to engage in a different kind of worry – a contemplation which helps us accept, yet be free of worldly worries. Parvathy shared this song as a response to a question by a Yatri about the difficulty of walking the spiritual path amidst the responsibilities and cares of worldly life. We were in a satsang with her at Jageri Dhooni where we had paused our caravan of the Rajasthan Kabir Yatra, a travelling festival which toured 7 villages with 13 singers of Bhakti, Sufi and Baul poetry in Feb 2012. The Yatra was organized by Lokayan in Bikaner (www.lokayan.org) in partnership with the Kabir Project, Bangalore. (Click on Settings for subtitles in English, & in Bengali in Roman script.
