Let’s take a look back at the film and go over 10 things you probably didn’t know about Friday The 13th. #1: Adrienne King from the original film was asked if she’d be willing to make a cameo appearance. Then, a few days later, she was contacted and told that the studio didn’t want anyone to return from any of the original films. #2: Jason’s longtime nemesis, Tommy Jarvis, was originally going to return for this movie. Obviously, this is one of those ideas that just didn’t make the final cut. #3: Scout Taylor-Compton, most known for her portrayal of Laurie Strode in the Halloween remake, tried out for the role of Jenna, but lost out to Danielle Panabaker. Damn, she could’ve been, like, a remake scream queen. #4: Jason is known for his sheer brutality, so you might be surprised to learn that Willa Ford’s character, Chelsea, was originally meant to die in a very different way. Originally, after being stricken by the boat, Jason would watch from the shore line in plain sight. Chelsea would be too afraid to swim to shore and Jason would just wait her out. Eventually, she’d drown due to exhaustion. #5: Producer Michael Bay became very upset with the film and ended up walking out during a screening of the film, saying that there was too much sex. Maybe he was subtly trolling the people who walk away from films for being too violent? #6: The opening weekend was a massive success, raking in over $40 million at the box office. Which, at the time, was the biggest --ever-- opening weekend for a horror remake #7: Both Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles were on hiatus from the wildly popular television show: Supernatural. During this time, they both worked on horror remakes of 80’s slasher films. Padalecki obviously worked on Friday The 13th, while Ackles worked on My Bloody Valentine 3D. #8: As Paramount still owned rights related to the original Friday the 13th despite the franchise being in New Line’s hands, New Line and Platinum Dunes needed their blessing to use certain materials for Friday ‘09… including the original’s title. Wanting to have their hands in the reboot, Paramount gave the other studios the go-ahead. This would be the first time Paramount had anything to do with the Friday The 13th franchise since 1989. #9: Even though most people consider the film to be a remake, and it was promoted as such, you’d be surprised to learn that technically, on paper, the film is classified as a sequel. Writer of the original film, Victor Miller, has stated that studios will do this as a
