20 Movies That Seem Like They're For Kids (But Really Aren't) HD
Any kid watching these movies risks being scarred for life! Subscribe to our channel: http://goo.gl/ho3Hg6 Kids movies are supposed to be fun, light and appropriate for the whole family. But is that really always the case? How many times were you plopped down in front of an animated film by your parents only to discover that it was more terrifying than anything deemed ‘too mature’ for your young eyes? For one of his earliest feature efforts, Muppet creator Jim Henson directed The Dark Crystal, a movie filled with as many nightmare-inducing monsters as adorable puppets. The beloved Disney animated classics The Lion King and Bambi deal with pretty dark subject matter all things considered, and more than likely traumatized many a young child. Pan’s Labyrinth might have confused parents expecting it to have a relationship to the David Bowie film in the 80s, but its R-rated material is not at all family friendly. And for those seeking a heartwarming sequel to the classic The Wizard of Oz might be better off skipping Return to Oz, which barely resembles its predecessor. Animation has often been considered kiddie fare, but Japan takes the artform seriously, as evidenced by films like Princess Mononoke and Grave of the Fireflies, which address mature themes and issues head on. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory might be based on a children’s book, but it has countless moments that have wedged their way into even the staunchest adult’s nightmares. And these are just a few of the many examples we have in store for you. So let’s take a walk down memory lane and address the childhood trauma these not-so-family-friendly films caused head-on.
