Tenerife Cycling Nov. '14 (2/2) - Puerto d.Santiago (0 m) - Chio (680 m) - Teleférico Teide (2356 m) HD

Part 2/2 - a 6½ hour ride (4½ hours to the top, about 2 hrs down) from Puerto de Santiago (0 m) through Chio (680 m) to Teleférico del Teide (2356 m) and back. The road from around Chio and up to Boca de Tauce (1980 m) is in quite bad condition and the surface acts almost as with potholes for a road bike. Felt like quite a hazardous ride downwards having to grip the handlebar firmly at all times. On the way up, the road surface was just testing my patience with the knobbly road surface making me go slower than I had hoped for. Weather generally was nice this day, although changing with some cloudy, colder periods and a pea soup fog interval leaving me with only extremely limited visibility - made me chose between slowing down with the risk of being run down by cars or going as fast as possible to avoid overtaking cars, I decided to rely on my own downhill riding skills... Overall a nice ride, a different experience than riding from the south through Vilaflor - tougher percentages to begin with from Puerto de Santiago to Chio, but then a bit easier I would say, even with the road surface in mind.
