The Trance - Magic sphere/Why me, Dornbach Records, DR 1504, Austria; Release only on 7" in summer 2015. Pre-orders welcome (only 75 pcs. available). "Nurturing youthful psychedelic dreams on Vienna’s cobblestone streets, the Trance unveiled its fuzz-driven organ sound in the fall of 1995. Featuring Norb Payr on guitar and vocals, bass and vocals by Ted Snydal, and Znarf Hoover on organ, three former members of early 90s down-and-dirty garage rockers the Road, the groop was swiftly joined by Erich Mader on drums. Known for their originals penned by Payr and Snydal, the band produced a five-song cassette EP in early 1996, yet two secret tracks were lost, fading out of knowledge to all but a few who held the demo cassingle in fond rememberance. Now, at long last, these two raw rockers have been released in a limited edition of 100 on the very 7” you are holding in your hands! These pearls of neo-60s garage beat were recorded at the height of the groop’s creativity in gorgeous four-channel multi-tracker quality. Playing in the post-grunge era dominated by early Britpop, the Trance’s strange brew of garage psych, shimmering shoegazer trippiness and freakbeat grooves was actually not all that unusual for indie bands at that time. Following the replacement of Mader by Mike Kratochwil and the release of their debut disc “The Trance play organ pop sounds” on road records in 1997, the groop played the 90s Vienna circuit: Flex, Bricks & Unplugged, were regulars at the Taverna’s sleepover hippyfests and toured as far south as Carinthia. But despite their modest dreams of world domination, the Trance broke up in late 1998. After stints in the Subcandies and the Jaybirds, Payr reunited with Snydal to form the Mohairs in the early noughties, busting out their share of roots country folk jams. Norb has since released two solo albums and he and Ted have a new electric dream band in the works, so keep your eyes peeled and ears tuned for the Fyre Flyzz!" Ted Snydal, May 2015 Thanks to Hans Pokora for supporting this Project!!!
