Instead of falling for distraction I use my phone to record any musical idea that I came up with. A single melodic idea can trigger whole songs. I come back to that idea and translated it into the instrument. Then, I analyzed the intervals in the melody to match them up with a scale or chord. From there we can use that idea for improvisation.
