Anxiety - Wild Life 7" (2017)

2nd vinyl release from Scotland punk band Anxiety. Sticking with the theme of my previous upload, the new Bad Breeding, Anxiety is another UK hardcore band incorporating anarcho and noise influences. Their eponymous debut LP from 2016 was definitely a favorite of mine last year, and while on "Wild Life" the band has maintained their unique personality, this new EP has a very different vibe. Where the LP had a few songs with the bounce of Crass, clean guitars and hooky vocal moments, this new EP is not necessarily as catchy and definitely much more aggressive. Anxiety creates an atmosphere drenched in claustrophobic, noisy guitars. That eerie feeling and the sparse moments of just creepy, heavy breathing and exasperated howling makes the finished product an even more off-putting and disturbing listen than the LP.
