He was born on March 18, 1932, Reading, Pennsylvania, US. He was known for his careful craftsmanship and fine depiction of “American Protestant, Small Town and Middle Class Life”. Updike Graduated in Harvard University in 1954 and in 1955 he began an association with the New Yorker Magazine where he contributed his editorials, poetry, stories and criticism throughout his prolific year. He devoted himself for writing fictions full-time and several works followed. Rabbit, Run(1960) is considered to be his best novel. About the Lecture: As a child everyone loves to hear stories especially at bedtime and these stories are mostly fables, having no logic behind them. A child may find them as true stories but as he grows up, he becomes inquisitive and ask many questions. Sometime parents find these questions afront and try to discourage them.
