Wizard Of Oz Statues On Chicago's North Side HD

03.07.2013
Frank Baum, who wrote The Wizard of Oz, lived in Chicago for almost two decades and began writing his enchanted stories of Oz while living in Humbolt Park on the cities north side. In fact the stories grew out of tales he used to tell the neighborhood children. Oz Park is no where near where Mr. Baum lived but is is a park that used to hold annual festival to celebrate the book. And in 1976 the city officialy named it Oz Park. The statues of Dorothy, Toto, the Tin Man, Scarecrow & the Cowardly Lion we see in the video were built with funds raised by selling naming rights to the bricks that surround the statues.
