It was made available on Windows PC, OSX, PS3 & XBOX 360. In the game, you choose one of four main protagonists: Purna, Sam B, Logan & Xian Mei, and try to escape from the island of Banoi in the midst of a zombie virus outbreak that has left the populace in tatters. A stand-alone expansion, Dead Island Riptide, was released in 2013 and both games were released for Windows PC, XBOX One & PS4 as the Dead Island Definitive Edition in 2016. A sequel, Dead Island 2, was announced and expected to be released in 2016 but is currently still in development.
