Studies confirm that social media use is linked to greater feelings of social isolation; the more time people spend on these sites, the more socially isolated they perceive themselves to be and many admit that it makes them feel comparative, lacking, excluded and anxious. Still we post and post in an attempt to feel more connected in what quickly escalates into an addictive cycle complete with a temporary high and a debilitating crash. LOOK HOW GREAT I’M DOING is about this addiction with each stand-alone episode linked by a social media post – making the social media platform a character in itself, much like the dealer in HIGH MAINTENANCE. Occasionally the characters from episode to episode know each other but, for the most part, peripherally, if at all. UNTIL we reach the end of the seven episodes where the characters find themselves in a support group for Social Media Addicts where they’ll attempt, and fail, to ‘quit’.
