Battlefield Heroes & Revive Heroes - Videogames Memories - Conso's Video Games Perspectives HD

Time to recall some memories of Battlefield Heroes, my first online game. ----- This footage is from the recent Revive Heroes from Revive Network, basically, they had files of the game and decided to restore the game like they did with other Battlefield games, which is great. I think I was in the first year of highschool when I started playing, so about when I was 14 or 15, because I had my first, very own PC, a laptop. I don’t recall how I discovered the game, but I know why I decided to install it. It was free, and at the time I was very fond of Team Fortress 2 and Battlefield Heroes was a cartoon shooter as well so close enough. For some general notes about the game, it’s based on a cartoonish interepretation of WWII, with the factions being Royals and Nationals that respectively portray Allied and Axis forces. There are three classes each with specific weapons sets and abilities that improve as you level up. The Soldier is the versatile unit, with average health and speed, and works best in group since it can instantly heal the teammates around him. The Gunner has access to the heaviest firepower and is the best at dealing with tanks, at the cost of extremely slow speed, lastly the Commando can be played both as a sniper or a stealth ambush oriented character since it can access both knives and sniper rifles and can become invisible. So class based, cartoon shooter, my kind of stuff back then and still right now as a class based shooter. I registered, downloaded the game and started playing as a Royal soldier, I later made a Royal gunner as well, while my friend eventually made two National characters on my same account, a soldier and a commando. The highlight at first was to discover there were fellow italians playing it, and apparently they were part of a clan. More for the chance to play with fellow connationals than for competitive aspirations I joined, my first clan! After joining the clan and taking part in a few matches between us members I realized a terrible thing about Battlefield Heroes, its scandalous Pay to Win formula. With Battlefunds, the paid currency you could get clothes and accessories for your characters but also permanent weapons with increased damage, magazine or critical damage chance, while with Valor points which is the free currency you could get only temporary weapons, with a price ratio of about 8 hours of effective gameplay against a day of rent. In short, if you didn’t pay you couldn’t compete. Later on they gave tools to obtain permanent weapons for valor points, but it was way later on, and too little too late. The only thing I got was one or two guns because they gave some battlefunds away for the 7th anniversary of the game, but it was when my interest in the game was fading. A group of the clan later broke from them forming an independent group and I followed them because they were the people I usually talked to on Teamspeak, but at that point I had lost interest in Battlefield Heroes, and we were all
