06.08.2018
It was a great night of fights. The co-main event and main event were incredible as they both had potential P4P greats competing in them. The co-main event involved Demetrious Johnson vs. Henry Cejudo. DJ, who holds the record for consecutive title defenses (13) was the huge favorite against the the Olympic wrestling gold medalist Henry Cejudo. Two years ago the two met and DJ was able to finish Cejudo in the first round. This rematch was much different. It was a close fight that many felt came down to the fifth and final round. Many had the score an even 2-2 going into to the fifth. Throughout the fight, Henry appeared to have the clear advantage on the ground and was able to score 5 takedown. DJ racked up more strikes. When it was all said and done, Henry was crowned and the new UFC Flyweight Champion. The Main Event was a rematch between TJ Dillashaw vs. Cody Garbrant. The rematch ended much like the first fight. TJ was able to stop Cody with an onslaught of strikes. The rematch was stopped in the first round, the first fight was stopped in the second. In any event, TJ showed that he is the better fighter and made his point as he chose to beat Cody at his own game - standing in the pocket, biting down on his mouth piece and exchanging leather. Now, it appears as if, TJ Dillashaw, Henry Cejudo, and UFC president Dana White all want a super fight between the 125 and 135 pound champions. The main negotiation point will come down to where the fight be contested (125 or 135 pound division). Both guys want to hold two belts. Who will win at the bargaining table? All MMA News Update 215
