I did recon to the swamp first this morning before I let the ducks out of the pen, just in case I got a lucky break and get a shot off at the predator or predators hunting the ducks. When I was down there I couldn’t believe the swamp was so full of water this morning, I originally thought it had rained big time last night and I slept through it. Spent about 20 minutes in the swamp during recon and no sign of anything, wasn’t lucky this morning. Poor little Dug the Duck Protector is seriously hurting today after the big predator hunt 2 days ago and running the swamp none stop when I was cutting the creek wider he’s seriously stiff today, he’s worked so hard the last couple of days I couldn’t imagine doing this without him. The ducks are seriously calmer going down the creek this morning now it’s cut way back, the predator has no where to hide now. Morning rush today was in 3 waves, the first 2 waves came down no problem but there was a 3rd wave that stayed in the yard and Dug and I had to work them to get them to go to the lake, it’s almost like there was something up near the yard in the bush that was freaking them out. Dug’s food consumption is up over 50% this week with all the duck protecting he’s doing, the dog is working so hard patrolling the property to protect the flock of ducks. It’s so hard to believe less than 5 months ago he was sleeping in an apartment 24/7. The ducks came home early today about 10 minutes to 5 which is sort of strange that they came home this early but it could be because it isn’t scary anymore for them to come up the creek now with it cut back. It’s been raining off and on all day, but at the end of the day it turned really nasty wet and of coarse what showed up a predator. The ducks were losing it and Dug was going crazy patrolling the property, he was forcing the ducks to stay close to the house while he ran the perimeter of the yard.
