There’s no two ways to say this: Demon’s Souls remake on the PlayStation 5 represents an enormous leap in fidelity from the original, while retaining the gameplay essence of what made the first Souls game so compelling. While it doesn’t leverage cutting-edge hardware ray-tracing effects, BluePoint has really pushed the boat out with raster rendering, resulting in a title that often approximates the visuals we see in Dark Souls III’s CGI cutscenes. This is a high bar that’s been set for ninth-gen visuals and we’re excited to see more games measure up to it.
