Half-life: Infinite Health Door

05.07.2007
In Half-life every door has a value set for the damage inflicted if something blocks the movement of the door. It was discovered that this door has a negative value (-1) set there. As a consequence you gain hitpoints when you block it. And it ignores the common limit of 100 hp so you can get very high values. The number displayed in the HUD does not work well then. It displays a value between 0 and 255 (which is actually the remainder after division by 256). Nevertheless the actual value can be alot higher. With that much health it is possible to perform extreme damage boosts (see end of the video) Note: if you have more than 0 armor while performing the trick you will gain armor instead of health. The display of the armor value will also glitch out and place wrong sprites infront of the numbers. The discovery of this trick was not entirely my merit. It was in a speed run by spider-waffle where he accidently boosted his armor above 100 at that door. Someone (forgot the name... sorry) asked how he did that. I decompiled the level to confirm my theory about negative damage on the door and discovered how to use it to boost armor. Slynk then found out that it can also boost health.
