Here the forgotten 80s hit has been given another new lease of life thanks to a batch of respectful remixes from JBAG (it’s official, they’re going afro!), dub-house-disco master Hifi Sean (ex-Soup Dragons frontman) and lush nu-disco wunderkind Pherotone. Watch the original on Top of the Pops in 1987: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Nuj3XP30jjo The combination of Maggie K de Monde’s visionary pro-hippy flights of lyricism, throbbing T-Rex glam riffs and solid italodisco beat spiced by some forward-thinking 12” reworks turned Scarlet Fantastic ‘No Memory’ into one of the anthems of the Summer of Love’s balearic generation in the late 80s/early 90s, championed by Andy Weatherall and Boys Own in London as well as Alfredo in Ibiza. Since her illustrious career as singer in chart-topping 80s bands Scarlet Fantastic and Swans Way, Maggie K de Monde’s never stopped creating and performing music, regularly developing new associations and collaborations. After connecting on social networks, Continental’s A&R Jerry Bouthier hooked her up with Osaka djs Kill The Hero to feature on their single ‘Surrender’ (Continental 005), a strikingly lyrical tune which came with inspired reinterpretations from Australia’s Shazam, Play Paul AKA Tulip, Reflex, Lancelot, Mannequine…). Jerry soon offered Maggie to revive ‘No Memory’ by handing it to a varied cast of remixers who would truly do justice to the enthralling spirit of this lost gem. First in EP 2’s remix seat is JBAG. Bouthier’s music project with Andrea Gorgerino, switches the turbo groove on without losing any of its melodic power, stretching the boundaries with a bass-heavy funky guitar-led monster that combines ecstatic pianos and a bassline keen to blow systems up.
