I wrote a letter to the man that will someday fall in love with me. You probably thought it was going to make you feel warm and fuzzy inside, WELL YOU WERE WRONG. Here is the internal monologue of my greatest fear. Here are the words for funzies.. ENJOY To the man that will someday fall in love with me Hi. You are a warrior. The epitome of strength. You stand firm and tall and strong, and all of those other muscular things. I promise that I will love you. Every ounce of my being will bow at your every word. I will capture our moments and put them in a poem. I will read them to you, with tear stained cheeks and shaking palms like the first time I will tell you my secrets. I will embarrass you with loud singing, dancing and laughter. Forever laughter. Some days you will not understand. Some days you will see the storm. These days you need to seek cover. You need to find safety. I am a tornado with a sharp tongue and a frozen heart. Some days the rage inside my bones ignites the darkness in my blood, and I find myself at the tail end of a tailspin. I will pick you up. Toss you around. Find you under the bridge, in the ditch. All the softness of your body will lie there Limp, asking why Some days the destruction feels too good Some days the venom on my tongue will strike and my heart will flee I am learning that love is not pain, but some days I wear my past like an old sweater. You know the one with the holes and staines that is just too warm and too comfortable to get rid of So I stash it away in the very back of my closet When the pang in the back of my throat tells my eyes to rain I will grab that sweater I will wear it like armor One day you will wake up, and look at me laying in the bed next to you Sweater covered in tears from the night before And you will not say goodbye You will leave the wreckage behind And never look back
