Chelsea opened their pursuit of their fourth Premier league title in nine years with a comfortable 2-0 victory at Wigan. The game was effectively settled inside the first seven minutes - thanks to Branislav Ivanovic and Frank Lampard - and the Champions League holders were happy to keep their spirited hosts at arms length thereafter.
