Keeping our cattle healthy and alive requires us to do some "gross" things! This calf had an abscess that needed to be drained so it would not get more infected. Although draining it looks to cause minor discomfort it actually gave the calf much relief! After draining the abscess, it was flushed, and he was given an antibiotic shot to help complete the healing process. The steer healed up nicely and was not retreated. This treatment is commonly done for cattle that get an abscess.
