Palram Glory 8 X 8 Greenhouse Build 2021 HD
Welcome back. This is a combination of pictures and some short video clips of the build of our Palram - Glory 8’ x 8’ polycarbonate greenhouse we bought from Canada Greenhouse Kits in Barrie, Ontario. https://www.canada-greenhouse-kits.ca/ Strong and gusty winds, high temperatures, and humidity did not lend to videoing all the build. The framing of the Palram Glory greenhouse is good strong painted steel pieces and all the to front and side polycarbonate sheets where all factory sealed on both open ends. The end triangular shaped pieces were not sealed on the cut edges, so we sealed them using the weather seal tape provided by the manufacturer. The instructions were remarkably like the picture Ikea furniture instructions, with all parts identified and numbered well. The sequence of the build was well laid out and components needed for that operation were identified. I took a half day to verify the contents of both boxes shipped to us and found no parts were missing. Packaging of the small screws, nuts and bolts were all well identified in the instruction manual. We had a few questions along the way and the Canada Greenhouses’ Customer Service were very prompt and professional in answering them. We had started the build by digging out just over a 9’ x 9’ area, down to about 5”. This area was back filled with ¾” crush gravel and the area around the place where the greenhouse would be also topped up with crush gravel to blend into the whole garden area landscape. Altogether my wife and I moved 5 yards of gravel over two days. Our Workout!! My son and his friend Laura, my sister Deborah helped us put in a 2” layer of pea gravel and 2” of limestone screening for the base and lay the patio stones. The base ¾” crush gravel was compacted well and the 2” of pea gravel was laid down where the patio stones would be and was also compacted. The 2” of limestone screening was laid in watered compacted leveled and then recompacted. The 18” x 18” patio stones were laid and leveled, and site was left to settle for a few days. The side, front and back build of the greenhouse took Pat and I about 2 days to build. This was spread over a few days as the 20 – 30km winds did not provide a great time to be safely handle and connect polycarbonate sheets to the framing. My brother came over on a weekend and we installed the roof and automatic roof vent. Pat and I spent a few hours in her sewing area on her sewing layout table to assemble the door. The door took about a half hour to hang and adjust. Looking forward to being able to use the greenhouse to extend our growing season as well as a place to possibly start our season early and help with the hardening off process of the seedlings.
