A meditation on water’s transcendence of borders, filmed along the California coastline. The permutable and drawing ocean submerges and provides a boundless space. Notes on Connection is a film series which explores the fusion of ancient American and judeo-kabbalistic cultural heritages in which multiple realities exist simultaneously, based on cosmogonies where the relationship with our surroundings, nature and time is different than those of the west. Focussed on nature and landscape, the works are reflective explorations of places the filmmaker has dwelled in, of our connection to nature and our deepest selves, and of the importance of reclaiming ancient spiritual traditions. Shot mainly in 16mm film, the hypnotic films are made while immersed in sacred and familiar places in California, Peru, Mexico, and South Carolina.
