The TH Georg Agricola University (THGA) stands for tremendous practice-oriented engineering education. Founded as Bochum’s first mining school in 1816, more than 200 years of tradition pay into its unique features. Today, with a future-oriented emphasis on mineral resources engineering and post-mining, materials science, mechanical engineering and process engineering, information technology or smart energy, the THGA connects its traditional knowledge with a modern focus. Companies are very interested in THGA graduates because of their special practical and theoretical education. As a private, state-accredited university of applied sciences, the university has close relations to the industry and to international partners. The THGA is open for young people impartially from their origin: Currently we have students from more all over the world studying at the THGA. Nevertheless, everyone knows everyone at our small, familiarly university. We do not have overcrowded lecture-halls, but small learning groups.
