What happens at a Ploughing Match? I spent the day learning how horse drawn ploughs operate and about the many Ancient & Modern Tractor Ploughs. There were also vintage engines and vintage vehicles at the match. Sheep show too. There were some seventy tractors of all shapes and sizes at the ploughing match. There were three horse ploughing teams in operation along with market garden tractor ploughing combinations. Ploughing matches are held throughout the country, with the majority being held during September, October and November although many are now held in the spring.
