Proton Arc - Picket Fences - Formation of STEVE - Tasmania, Australia - 4K HD

Footage © Ian Stewart. This Proton Arc / STEVE was spotted during an Auroral display on November the 7th, 2015 from the South Picton Range in Tasmania, Australia. This Auroral display was a result of a CME from the sun a few days earlier. At first, an unusual soft glow was noticed over in the West, at which point a timelapse was commenced to see what came of it. As can be seen in this timelapse, STEVE, along with what is colloquially known as "picket fences", "tiger stripes" or "piano keys" : equally separated vertical green lines. In previous experience these have also occurred during the same time as STEVE. Edit: Proton Arc has been more recently referred to as "STEVE" or "Strong Thermal Emission Velocity Enhancement" and has been edited as such. Video remains unedited.
