Honda Odyssey 2006 LX Sliding Door Broken Latch Cable HD

Video taken inside left sliding door looking towards rear latch, showing broken latch cable. This is the LX model, which does not have automatic closers. The end of the cable is missing two "wings" that are meant to hold it in place. Our 2006 Odyssey LX sliding door became stuck in the closed position. The door handles (inside and outside) felt looser than normal, and would not release the door latch. To gain access to the latch you must first remove the inside door panel. With the door stuck closed this is difficult, but not impossible! With the liner removed, you can see the latch assembly by looking toward the rear of the door using a small mirror and flashlight. By disconnecting the other end of the cable and twisting/moving it into position, it is possible to temporarily re-engage the cable end into the hole in the lever on the latch. This hole is just visible in the video. Once engaged, you can pull on the cable to release the rear latch and open the door. Once opened, you can remove the latch and replace the cable.
