Early computers were enormous, hulking machines, and today they can be as small as a cell phone. However, in modern times computers have become a fairly standard black metal box with a glass side panel. While this may be the status quo, there are many other ways to build a PC without a traditional case at all. Today, we’re going to take a look at five totally unique kinds of custom PC build, show you what they’re all about, and explain why people build them. Fair warning, this isn’t going to be an extreme build guide showing you the baddest, most performant sub-ambient cooling rigged up in a tire but rather us highlighting some very cool, very different ways to build a computer. With enough cash to spare and time available to invest, these projects are doable, if you do your research and have some PC building experience. Furthermore, all the builds we’re going to talk about work as interesting art or conversation pieces or save you space. Building one of these computers might be a total extravagance, but you won’t spend your money on actually nothing.
