The Fu Chen (horsehair whisk) is a very special Daoist weapon. It is unique to Wudang style as it is a symbolic tool used for "whisking" away bad spirits during Daoist rituals. It is often depicted with individuals from the pantheon of Daoist lore, from the Eight Immortals to practitioners to the gods themselves. The Fu Chen is a traditional weapon used for whipping, sweeping, grabbing, and snapping. As the legend goes, when one leaves the temple and begins their journey into the outside world, they are gifted a fuchen by the master. This will protect them from trouble on the spiritual realm as it cleans up the path ahead and removes all disturbances. Once a martial artist has something in their hands, it becomes a weapon!
