Arca SGR, a 30-metre (100-foot) Italian-crewed Maxi, has claimed line honours as fastest finisher at the 2021 Rolex Giraglia. Completing the 241-nautical mile course, running from Sanremo to Genoa, in 26 hours, eight minutes and ten seconds, she finished a little under 16 minutes ahead of her nearest rival Magic Carpet Cubed, a Wallycento and two-time line honours winner. The two yachts offered an intriguing contest with the latter making impressive gains late in the race. Leopard 3, another 100-ft Maxi, was the third yacht to finish. An international fleet of 138 yachts are competing in this year’s edition of the offshore race founded in 1953. Following the awarding of line honours, the focus turns to who will prevail and claim the race’s coveted title of overall winner on handicap.
