Nov 17 2013 - Tornado Warning & Funnel in McHenry Co northeast Illinois HD

22.11.2013
Nov 17 2013 A High Risk for severe weather, Rich and Erik begin with the first severe storms of the day in McHenry Co IL. The first tornado warned cell moved on and we were not able to keep up, but a second twin cell formed to the sw into Boone Co IL moving to the south and east of Harvard IL. We stayed on the edge of the second cell where it formed a brief funnel in front of us with a nice small rainbow sw of Hebron IL before dissapating and moving into Walworth Co. WI where the storms refired again. Following the early morning encounter, we head back to Marengo where we decide the next plan to meet up the now long track supercell crossing central IL and heading for the south suburbs of Chicago. We end up what we could only describe at possible impact from the circulation itself near a toll booth not to far from the 80/294 intersection. While Rich laughs briefly at the change in driving conditions as Erik questions whether or not we may have been too close for comfort and we pull over shortly after that. The rain wrapped conditions played a big part in this, and we lost data just prior to this event. Definitely a great experience and our hearts go out to those who were directly affected by this outbreak. **yes there is wind noise and yes it was very windy **video filmed with a samsung s3 Various radar screenshots and photos are available on our FB page.
