In winter carp tend to slow down and due to the cold water, their feeding tends to be in short spells. The rest of the time they will spend finding the warmer layers of water in the lake. This is where zig rigs come in! They can be used to search out the different layers of the water column to find where the fish may be and then hopefully the carps curiosity will get the better of them and cause them to investigate your bait.
