Gradient | Prove Rule 2 | video in HINDI | EduPoint HD
In this Physics video lecture in Hindi we proved a rule regarding the gradient of a scalar function. It is ∇f^n = nf^(n-1)∇f. Gradient of a scalar field is a vector function. Gradient of a scalar function gives us the direction in which the rate of change of the value (or, more technically speaking, the slope ) of that scalar function is maximum. Directional derivative of a scalar field tells us the rate of change in the value of the function in a certain direction. To understand the meaning of gradient at first you have to understand the meaning of directional derivative and for that you should know the meaning of ordinary derivative, which I think you are familiar with very well. Whatsoever we discussed a little bit about ordinary derivative also in this video lecture. In this series of video tutorials in Hindi we are going to cover very important topics on "Mathematical methods in Physics" like, Gradient of a scalar field, divergence of a vector field, curl of a vector field and so on. This is an indispensable topic in B.Sc. and it is the foundation of most of the branches in Physics.
