What Really Is Karma [PART 3] If your karma has a soul then this karma will bring the great fruit which is called self-realization, enlightenment. When we use the word ‘KarmYog’, what does it mean? It means that your karmas should not get accumulated. But how will people perceive it if they have not understood the importance of soul in their karma? You will see people doing many good karmas, but these will also create bondages. With bad karma you create bondages of iron chains and with good karmas you create bondages of golden chains. Good karmas boost the ego that is why they create bondage of gold chains. This is invisible. You won’t be able to see this. If your doership is getting stronger, the individual, identity in you is getting stronger. That is why it is called golden chain, however good looking it may be, it is going to take away your freedom. After all it is a bondage. Now understand the reality. Does karma create the bondage or something else happens while doing karma which eventually creates the bondage. Many things are told about karma. People discuss about this and they take with them whatever they have understood out of that. That understanding helps keep peace in the society but they don’t get liberated from that chain of gold. This knowledge is not making them free from the bondages. So what can be done? They won’t understand the true reality and if nothing is told then there will not be peace in the society. For example: One day a king asked a question to the sage, ‘I want to be a king and rule the kingdom in my every incarnation, what shall I do for this?’ In the answer to this question, the sage told him, ‘take as much sleep as possible, the size of your kingdom depends upon the amount of sleep you are going to take in this life.’ Now that king thought if a sage is saying this, then it must be true. The disciples of that sage said that he was giving wrong guidance to the king. Then the sage said, ‘He will not be able to understand the true thing, but if he stays asleep at least there will be peace in the kingdom.’ Because the nature of the king is to do mistakes and create trouble for people. Try to understand what kind of mind he has. It is wavering and fearful. He is worried about not being king in his next incarnations. The karmas done by an impure and wavering mind will only create bondage. So people usually do not understand the true reality. So what can be told to them? Do good karma only. If you do bad karmas then they will keep on accumulating and one day there will be a huge pile of sorrows in front of you etc. Then a person says, ‘fine now I will do good karmas.’ Now because of this there will be peace in the society. But you need to understand this is not the true reason for bondage. Lets understand with an example what is the true reason of bondages. Suppose you are writing on a letter pad. You will see whatever you have written on the first page, it leaves its impression on the second page. Now if someone uses
