2016 Golf Swing Compilation HD
Yep, I have a few misspellings in the intro….my bad, but it took forever to upload the video, so it is what it is…. This video is a compilation of the times I filmed myself at the range. They start in February and end in June, except the last one is in November. I did not film anything in July through October. I was mostly playing rounds and practicing on my own. Overall, I was pretty happy about the progress I made from February to November for not having really played much for 11 or so years. Looking back at what my swing looked like early in the early compared to the end, I am pretty happy about it. My early swings look pretty bad - bad posture, bad weight distribution, flipping the club, slapping at the ball, etc...lots was wrong. I really enjoyed the process and the learning experience too. It was fun and challenging. That’s one of the many draws of golf. Swings: February 13 – This is my own construct. I wanted my arms super tight to my body, basically keeping my triceps to my rib cage. All about rolling my forearms open to rolling closed. Super flat, well, extremely flat! Posture is horrible, hunchback of Notre Dame right there. Hands were in really tight. Hips were a byproduct of the arms. February 28 through April 16th – It doesn’t look tons different than the previous date, but I was experimenting with Mark Evershed’s technique here. Club is taken away shut and you get the butt of the club picking up the target line on the backswing. Then, there’s a drop at the top and you give it all you got to what he calls the “master position” which is the butt of the club picking up your heel line. Also, your left wrist does not break during impact and follow through. He says there is not a release. If I am misquoting him or misrepresenting his technique, I apologize. Anyways, I had a tough time with this and just couldn’t pick it up on my own. I may in the future attend one of his golf schools just to check it out. April 24th – I think this swing was when I was watching a lot of videos and reading blogs related to the Golfing Machine. I watched a lot of Lynn Blake on youtube and was trying to do the Thrust swing. This is using your right side mostly through hitting. I liked his stuff, but just wasn’t getting it and I think it was a little harder on my body. Just before this session, I had gone to a golf store to get a new pair of shoes. I also popped into the hitting bay and swung a few drivers. According to their stuff, my swing speed was doing 107 to 109, from what I remember. I feel I am a little faster now. April 30th to June 19th - My Dad turned me onto AJ Bonar’s technique and I dove into his DVDs and got his book. His stuff is pretty easy and I liked his material. Lots of roll open and then turn the screwdriver at impact with your left hand leaning at impact. You’ll see the face of the club wide open really quick at takeaway on these swings. I like his stuff. I thought about doing his golf school too.
