Godin Multi oud review part 3 taqsim

22.04.2011
Since posting the review of the Godin - multioud, I have done some more experimenting with recording it as a purely acoustic instrument. I think the instrument has also benefited from a bit of a breakin period as I think the sound has improved in the months that I have had it. Here it is recorded with an Apex 460 tube mic and Rode NT2a into an ART TPS preamp. Then Processed slightly in Cubase 5 with the native plugins - Reverence, and vintage compressor. Update Dec 2012- I have had this instrument for almost 2 years now it is the oud played on the new Jaffa Road CD. Where the Light Gets in. http://jaffaroad.bandcamp.com/ As I gain more experience with the instrument, I have learned how great the pickup is. When playing live I usually just run the pickup into a quality acoustic amp and then DI or mic the amp. Sometimes I will mic the instrument as well but this is not necessary. When recording I mic the acoustic instrument and record a DI from the pickup and then blend the two signals. When I AB the mic to the DI it is sometimes hard to tell them apart because the DI can be so good. The taqsim on the Jaffa Road CD was recorded this way. http://jaffaroad.bandcamp.com/track/through-the-mist-of-your-eyes
