Parts Of A Motorcycle HD
In this video we go over all the basic parts of a motorcycle. We talk about the function of each basic part and its purpose. Please watch and learn exactly what all of the parts do. Below, we will give a brief description of the parts, to go along with the video, in case we miss something here or in the video. Mirrors- Used to see what’s behind and to the left or right of you. I should say however that when you change lanes, you always want to double check by looking over your left or right shoulder, and using your directions. Sometimes you can’t see everything with your mirrors, and you only get one chance on a motorcycle! Ignition-Where you put your key in, to start the bike up. Red On/Off Switch (Kill-Switch)-Put this button on the “On” setting before you put the key in, so that the bike will start up. Power Button-Turns the bike on when the key is turned, the “On” switch is on, and you are ready to go. This starts the engine up. Throttle-Gives the bike gas, and gets you moving. This is the “gas pedal” on a motorcycle. Front Break-The more powerful of the two breaks you have. Located right next to the throttle, where you would keep your right hand. You always want to use both the front and back breaks, but you want to squeeze more of the front break when you are stopping. It is safer this way, and more effective. I’d say use about 70% of the front break and about 30% of the back break every time you break. Left Handlebar-Where you can rest your left hand and also keep control of the bike. Clutch-Located next to the left handlebar. Used when shifting gears. You want to pull the clutch in with your left hand and shift gears with your left loot. Footrest-On both the left and right side of the bike. A place to rest your feet when you are riding, and when you are not shifting gears. Gearshift-On the left side of the bike, next to left footrest. Used to shift your bike into different gears. You must use the clutch simultaneously. Break Lights-Used to let people know you are slowing down and perhaps stopping. Directional Lights-Used to let others know you are making a turn either left or right, or switching lanes, either left or right. Exhaust System-Exhausts the gases away from the combustion taking place within the engine. Can get extremely hot, so make sure you don’t rub up against it, or you will get burnt. Rear Break-Next to the right footrest used to slow you down. Used in conjunction with the front break. For more information please visit: http://learninghowtorideamotorcycle.com/
