Handlebar snap! HD

01.06.2010
Well this happened a few days ago, I was riding at my local city park doing trials and my seven year old bar broke due to time/stress fatigue. When I fell I didn't realize what happened, but in fact a piece of my handlebars flown 3 meters high in the air with my brake lever on. Fortunately I didn't hurt myself but the damage was pretty clear. I snapped my bar, my brake braided hose was cut off clean from my lever body and I broke several spokes of my rear wheel. When started fixing my brake I was really happy that the hose just popped off from the brass hose insert and no damage was made to any part. I don't know if it's good or bad the hose popping out, but due to the great forces that were involved I was happy that I didn't need to buy any new part for my brake. I mean happy in a point of view that I do all the mechanics in my bike and that I don't mind spending 1 hour fixing my brake (fitting the hose bleeding). I guess if it was another person without mechanical knowledge probably would prefer the lever still attached to the hose. If you have any more questions please ask.
