Реве-гуде негодонька (Small misfortune / Little trouble). Виконання: Кубанський козачий хор. Ukrainian poem of Lesia Ukrajinka (Ukrayinka, 1871 - 1913), the most famous Ukrainian classical woman poet. Lesia Ukrajinka features on Ukrainian money (banknote of 200 hryvnias, 2nd highest nominal). Performed in Ukrainian by Kuban cossacks choir (Ukrainian choir from south Russia, Kuban is ethnic Ukrainian territory that was occupied by Russia). Lenin drew borders in wrong places - this way Kuban region inhabited nearly exclusively by ethnic Ukrainians happened to be in Russia, while Crimea where ethnic Ukrainians are minority happened to be in Ukraine. But unlike Kuban, Crimea is totally dependent economically on Ukraine (electricity, water, food supplies) because basically it is an island and only land connection (via Perekop isthmus) is with Ukraine. This was the reason why Soviets transferred it under Ukraine in 1954. It has to be noted, that Kuban and Stavropol regions, where ethnic Ukrainians are the majority (though nowadays they largely russified, as Russians closed all Ukrainians schools there yet decades ago) originally were Circassian lands (aboriginal non-Indo-European people). Christian Ukrainians settled these provinces in 18th century (moving by boats from Ukraine upon the invitation invited by Russian queen whne Russia attempted to christianize and slavinize the warlike moslem Circassia), after the expulsion of moslem Circassians (after Russian armies brutally subjugated Circassia), who if not killed, were forced to move en masse to Turkey. But in coastal areas of Rostov region and on south Don, Ukrainians were native population since antiquties. Nowadays Don and Kuban Ukrainians (have no Ukrainian schools nor media) had been russified and go no comparison with western Ukrainians for example, not even with non-Ukrainian Crimeans and Crimean Tatars, who know Ukrainian and are more "Ukrainian" in away as they were brought up in Ukraine. In a way without a state and freedom native cultures sooner or later are doomed into assimilation.
