Sen. Barack Obama at College Park, MD
On Feb. 11, 2008, U.S. Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) spoke at the Comcast Center on the campus of the U. of Maryland, at College Park, MD. A near capacity crowd heard him speak. His full remarks lasted about 41 minutes. Sen. Obama is a candidate for president on the ticket of the Democratic Party. The primary election for Maryland is set for tomorrow. Sen. Obama addressed issues, like: the environment, climate change, foreign policy and the war in Iraq. He labeled the war "unwise," and said that he also opposed the "permanent occupation" of that country. He added the he wanted the troops brought home "by 2009," the restoring of the ancient Writ of "Habeas Corpus," the "closing" of the Guantanamo Bay torture center and the "need to honor our veterans when they come home."
