He escaped from Iran during tension between Baloch nationalists and Irani government in the late 1960s and settled in Lyari Karachi, Pakistan, where he attracted a large fan base to his music. His first entrée into the music world occurred in the early 1970s. His passion and main objective has always been to be the voice of his people’s sentiments and their plight. He is known as a revolutionary music icon among Baloch nation. He and his colleague Ostaad Shafi Baloch recorded the most iconic pieces of Balochi nationalist music. 45 years ago, Ostaad Sattar had opened a music club to transfer his knowledge of music to young generation. He passed away in 2006 in Lyari, Karachi at the age of 55. Lyari is the oldest human settlement of Karachi city. The first inhabitants of Lyari were Baloch and Sindhi fishermen and nomads. Lyari was ignored for infrastructure development during the British colonial period, a policy that would continue well into Pakistan’s “post-colonial” period. There are few schools, substandard hospitals, a poor water system, limited infrastructure, and broken roads. Lyari is a stronghold of the lift-oriented political organizations. There are several ethnic groups in Lyari including Baloch, Sindhi, Memons, Pakhtuns, Seraikis, Urdu Speaking and Punjabi
