Official *AXE CORDWOOD CHALLENGE* 2017, Intro Video, Axes Only HD
The Cordwood Challenge is on! Do you have what it takes to process a large stack of wood using axes only, no saws allowed? Main Page: http://www.skillcult.com/cordwoodchallenge The axe cordwood challenge is provided for those that want to increase their skills in practical axe use and be recognized for their achievement. Participants can cut 1/4 cord, 1/2 cord, 1 cord or more using axes only, no saws allowed. The one exception for saws is making back cuts when felling trees if wedges are needed to safely fell the tree in a certain direction. By adhering to the axes only rule, we can greatly increase our skills in using an axe under real life practical conditions in a very short time. When participant are finished, felling, limbing, bucking and splitting their firewood, they can submit a photo or video for recognition in a video and blog post at the end of the season and receive one or both of two prizes, a leather merit badge and a hand made pocket axe strop. See the making of these axe strops entirely from scratch here: This is an inherently dangerous challenge and should not be taken lightly. Be sure that you value having good axe skills enough to put yourself at high risk of injury. Those under 18 years of age need parental consent. Everyone else, good luck if you are brave/stupid enough to go for it. I wash my hands of any injury you sustain in the undertaking of this challenge. The effort and danger may be considerable, but so is the reward. Proficiency with an axe requires a certain amount of time spent chopping and if the goal is to attain practical axe skills, then what better way to gain those skills than in real life application under field conditions. I can only offer so much advice and technical support due to limitation of time and qualification, so please avail yourself of available information before asking.
