http://www.organa.it/monteverdi/ With the project “Duoi organi per Monteverdi” Walter Chinaglia aims to bring back the historical sound of the Principal in cypress wood – described as “subtle”, “suave” and “with a good pronunciation” in antique sources – in order to put it back into the hands of musicians. Hand operated bellows, keyboard, aesthetic appearance, pitch, temperament and sound projection: all these characteristics are clearly given in numerous historical documents. Therefore, not only the sound is historic, but the organ in its entirety can be traced back to original sources, thus providing a key to the correct interpretation of early music. It is hoped that “expert musicians and singers” and those “who know well what an organ is about” (1538) will make use of it for their historically informed performances of the 16th and 17th century Italian music, and the usage of stopped pipes may be restricted to performances that pay less attention to historical background. --------------- Duoi organi per Monteverdi” di Walter Chinaglia mette nuovamente nelle mani dei musicisti il suono storico del Principale italiano di legno - prodotto da canne aperte di cipresso - descritto dalle fonti antiche come “dolce”, “soave” e di “bona pronunzia”. Mantici a mano, tastiera, aspetto estetico, diapason, temperamento, proiezione del suono sono informazioni ben chiare nelle fonti antiche: esse dimostrano quanto l’organo in uso in Italia nel ‘5-’600 fosse lontano dal consueto organo a cassapanca, oggi acriticamente adottato. Dunque, non solo il suono è storico, ma l’organo nella sua interezza è riconducibile alle fonti originali, affinché esso possa farsi chiave di lettura nell’interpretazione della musica antica. Si auspica che “periti sonatori et cantori” e che tutti “coloro che se intendano cossa sia organo” (1538) ne facciano uso nelle esecuzioni musicali storicamente informate del ‘5-‘600 italiano, relegando l’uso degli organi a cassapanca con canne tappate a contesti meno attenti agli aspetti storici.
