Communication Breakdown The mystical universe of Led Zeppelin exploded in a burst of laser beams and flash powder Wednesday night in the Greensboro Coliseum. The concert was one of Zep’s first stops on its current American tour. The supermusical quartet lifted off the evening with “Rock and Roll,” and proceeded to increase the karma with some selections from their new album, Physical Graffiti. AS USUAL, Robert Plant’s virtuoso voice wailed and shrieked to perfection. The dazzling sequined mentor of the guitar, Jimmy Page, hoofed his way about the stage and played his usual amazing style despite a recent bone fracture in one of his playing fingers. John Paul Jones displayed his adeptness at the keyboards, and drummer John Bonham thundered away until the very foundation of the Coliseum shock to the rhythm. Led Zeppelin is a powerhouse of heavy metal, but they still shine on the mellow “Stairway to Heaven.” Their oriental magic and hell-bent boogie and blues made the concert a golden memory for all who attended.
