Breast Augmentation (Implants) | Huntington, Long Island NY by Dr. Lebowitz HD

24.09.2014
In this video I perform breast augmentation (implants) surgery in my Huntington, Long Island NY office. The patient in this video is 5’6, weighs 120 pounds, and has a pre-operative breast size of a B-Cup. She wanted implants to look better in clothes with more cleavage and projection, without the use of a bra pad to feel more comfortable with her overall body proportions. Many of my patients are referred to my Huntington, Long Island NY practice from former patients who have undergone breast augmentation (implants) and other procedures by me in the past. Our initial consultation was detailed with a full discussion related to her specific desires, goals, and needs. Trying on various implant sizers, she liked the look of a larger implant. We then discussed the differences between silicone vs. saline implants, round vs. tear-drop, over vs. under the muscle, the projection of the implant (moderate, moderate plus, or high profile), as well as the location of the surgical incisions. After a thorough discussion we collectively selected a 500CC, round, high profile silicone implant placed under the pectoralis major muscle through an inframammary fold crease incision. At the start of the video, you can see the top and bottom of a 350CC, round, moderate plus, silicone implant. Now join me in the operating room! The patient has been placed under general anesthesia with betadine used to sterilize the skin. Local anesthesia is then administered at the surgical incision site to reduce post-operative pain. A sterile surgical marker is used to outline the incisions. Incisions are made at the level of the inframammary fold or crease to hide the resulting scars. Cautery dissection is carried down to the pectoralis major muscle. A sub-muscular, pocket is created and an expander is placed. The expander is used to dissect the pocket gently without cutting the muscle. Sizers are placed to match the selected pre-operative implant size, shape, projection, and volume selected prior to actual implant insertion. After both sides are inflated, the pocket is checked for symmetry. Watch as I use a Keller Funnel to insert the implant into the sub-muscular breast pocket. The Keller Funnel method is a gentle, sterile, single use, cone shaped instrument used to insert the implant for a no touch technique. The pockets are then checked again for symmetry and perfection prior to closure. I then close the incisions in layers using all self-absorbing stiches with no need for suture removal and dressings are applied. I confirm the implant placement, a surgical bra is placed, and the patient is taken to the recovery room. Before leaving Lebowitz Plastic Surgery, located in Huntington, Long Island NY, the patient is provided with all instructions for post-operative breast augmentation (implants) care as well as a follow up office appointment.
