Aspirin Synthesis HD

This video shows how to synthesize aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) from salicylic acid and acetic anhydride. A qualitative test is used to test for the purity of the synthesized aspirin. After the aspirin is removed from the cold water bath, it should be dried by using a Buchner funnel and vacuum filtration process. Unfortunately, the lab where the video was filmed did not have vacuum lines installed and so we had to omit that part from the video.
