Catalan pro-independence protesters hurled paintballs, used rubber bullets and plastic balls at police in Barcelona on Saturday as they gathered outside Spanish National Police headquarters where they protested against violent police action last week after the conviction of secessionist leaders on October 14 triggered daily demonstrations calling for their release.
