11.11.2016
There is nothing higher than an Offering of the Accomplished Disciple to his Guru on the Day Of Gurupurnima. This happened in California in 1975 when with profound humility -so evident in this offering of Raga Shree- Shri Nikhil Banerjee pays Homage to His Guru, Baba Allauddin Khan, and thus made eternal, that which can not be learnt without absolute surrender. In short he made Baba Allauddin Khan immortal. Later in 1980 Nikhil Ji played this Raga Live in Munich with Swapan Chaudhury. He begins with an Alap followed by a slow rhythmic cycle [Jod] of 10 beats in 2 bars of 2+3 called Jhaptaal and there is a a magnificent ending in a fast tempo - [Dhrut] of 16 beats called Teentaal provided by Guru of Tabla & Classical Vocals -Shri Jnan Prakash Ghosh. It is an evening Raga. This Raga with deep meditative aspects forms the basis for devotional offerings to the divine within all.
