It begins at North Carolina State University, and it stretches for around4 km’s. You run to a Krsipy Kreme store, devour 12 donuts and then run back again! If you’re not ok with the additional calories, then know at least you’re doing it for a good cause, as money raised goes to North Carolina’s children’s hospital. 11 - If you can dream it, you can do it… The Walt Disney Fun Run is everything you imagine it to be. You’re running along, and next minute Mickey Mouse joins you and starts offering you encouragement. You run through the Magic Kingdom for around 50kms, soaking in the sights of every kids dream, and the reward at the end is a shiny Mickey Mouse medal. 10 - Run like the wind… It’s the location of this fabulous run that is most impressive. Called the Midnight Sun marathon, it takes place yearly in Norway. The race finishes at midnight, but here’s the weird thing – it’s still bright and you see the sun set closer to the finish. The course is literally breath-taking. 9 - Fit as a fiddle... The New York Hot Dog Challenge is around 5-8 km’s, and you’ll have to come hungry, because you’re going to be eating a hotdog at every hotdog vendor you come across on route. If you’ve ever been to NYC, you’ll have a good idea of how many hot dog carts there, so good luck if you’re running this one! 8 - Rise, Shine, Run… The Caliente Bare Dare 5K takes place in Land O’ Lakes in Florida around the beginning of May, and sees runners ditching their regular running gear, and doing it totally in the nude! Spectators also join in on all the fun, and watch from the side-lines in the buff! Just know, this is actually USATF certified. 7 - Groundhog Day… This next race is just under 5000-kms, which in itself is impressive, but it’s the fact that you’re running around the same city block over, and over again, that makes it stand out. It’s the Self-Transcendence 3100-Mile Race, which takes place in Queens. It began in 1996, and runners have 51 days to complete the run. It works out to 5649 laps around this block, and they say when you cross the finish line – you get the most incredible self-enlightenment. 6 - Running – cheaper than therapy… And this run will get you grinning from ear to ear! The Burro Days World Championship Pack Burro Race is a marathon run with donkeys. Burro is Spanish for donkey, and they pay homage to the old mining days in their small town in Colorado. Donkeys are packed with 15kg’s of mining equipment, and along with an owner – they trek around 46 km’s. As you can guess, anything can happen in this race as you never know how the donkey will behave. No animals are ill-treated as that means you’re out of the race for good! 5 - Slow or Fast, A mile is a mile… For a bit of a laugh, why not give the Slime Run a try.
