Skyfall marks the 12th appearance by an Aston Martin automobile in a Bond film. There are areas of the world where the Aston Martin brand is not well known and the association between James Bond and these vehicles helps the manufacturer achieve recognition. The Aston Martin DB5 first appeared in the film Goldfinger back in 1964 and makes a triumphant return in Skyfall. The DB5 hit showroom floors back in 1963 and was the successor to the DB4 model. The nameplate gives homage to David Brown who was at that time the Head of Aston Martin. The DB5 is powered by a 4.0 liter inline 6-cylinder engine that made 282 horsepower and had a top speed of 145 MPH.
